About the Mental Health Initiative

Mental health has become an increasing focus of attention in the Kingdom since it is an essential part of public health. Mental health is no less important than physical health, and society still considers mental illnesses a negative stigma, offset by many misunderstandings and fear.

Mental illness is not a personal failure as some might think, and we need to change this culture and make it normal to talk about these topics in the Kingdom, so that we can take important steps forward as a society based on knowledge, dialogue and solidarity.

The Mental Health Initiative is a social and educational initiative focuses on the importance of mental health of individuals. The initiatives run by the Talga and supported by the Saudi Mental Health Promotion Center.

Initiative Aims
Spread cultural awareness among the society regarding Mental Health
Combating the stigma and shame around mental illnesses
Familiarizing the community with the support & resources available in the Kingdom to maintain their health and how to request assistance for them or their relatives

The Initiative focuses on three main categories

Depression

Anxiety Disorder

Occupational (Work) burnout

Relevant Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)

Goal 3 of the SDGs is to: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Target 3.4 is: By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being.

Mental Health Promotion Call Center

The call center receives all psychological counseling of all kinds through the number 920033360, and it is possible to request telephone psychological counseling from all regions of the Kingdom and for all groups of society. Psychological counseling is answered by trained and experienced mental health professionals.
